CHRISTOPHER Holder returned one hour 58 minutes 49 seconds in winning the 10th Annual Castrol 50-mile Cycle road race which was staged by national cycle coach Hassan Mohamed yesterday.
Geron Williams placed second while Mark Lewis was third, Robin Persaud fourth, Albert Philander fifth and Eric Sankar sixth.
From the start of the race which got underway from outside the Wales Police Station, Williams attacked the pack, but Holder responded and Lewis followed.
The trio opened a one minute 15 seconds lead over the others exiting Goed Fortuin, and after turning back at Bushy Park, East Bank Essequibo, with more than two minutes lead, Holder, Williams and Lewis stayed at the fore until Windsor Forest when Lewis dropped off the pace but still managed third place.
By virtue of winning the overall event, Holder was adjudged the first junior while Williams was second and Christopher Persaud third.
The upright category was won by Richard Charles, while Andre Petty was second and Mickey Leacock third.
Kennard Lovell was the first veteran while Virgil Jones and Gary Benjamin placed second and third respectively.
Monty Parris was the first veteran over 60 years of age to cross the finish line.
